As Mukta Nandini Jain, shares, when she visualised Dandelion, the idea was to put together an eclectic & contemporary mix of art, craft, design & fashion with people who are equally passionate about design.
What ensued was a beautiful curation of like-minded creative heads who have something distinct to offer to patrons.
Through these curated shows the aim is to revive, promote & evolve the traditional crafts by highlighting designers working in close relationships with indigenous artisan communities to ensure the sustainability of traditional craft techniques & skills.
It also serves as a platform where NGO's like Tambat from Pune , Arpana from Haryana , Sasha from West Bengal , My little Green Yard from Uttarakhand & Aakaar from Delhi have been given an opportunity to bring their merchandise to show to an elite Delhi market .
Usually they tend to market their products in small craft bazaars & melas.
This does not give them a level market playing field even though their products are way superior to some other similar products.
Through each of the Dandelion shows we have religiously brought to the forefront NGO's who are creating exemplary models of excellent quality & dignity to the thousands of women working with them .
Dandelion in its small format also brings to the forefront young momprenuers & also those who have returned with a bang . Each woman has a story that is her own & has created a special niche for her designs & talent . Alongside these leaders are young husband - wife teams who prove that marriage is compatible at work too.
The exhibition has kicked started on 27 September at Vivanta By Taj, Sujan Singh Park.
