8:58 PM: Jadhav playing on 54 and Pandey 14. They are scoring at a good clip.

8:47 PM: All covers are now being taken off, action to start shortly.

8:46 PM: Indian players are anxious to get back onto the field, even as umpires are out in the middle. Some of the covers have been removed. Virat Kohli can be seen trying to calm down Pandey.

8:40 PM: If Duckworth Lewis comes into play, then India are just two runs behind Australia. Score in 41.1 overs, 251/4.

8:39 PM: Umpires in discussion over drizzle. Decides to take teams off the field, much to the surprise of Virat Kohli in the pavilion.

8:24 Pm: FOUR!

8:23 PM: 38th overs end with India talking 2 runs and losing a wicket

8:20 PM: Manish Pandey on the crease now. India needs 109 runs off 75 deliveries.

8:19 PM: OUT! Hardik Pandya goes for 41 runs off 40 balls

8:09 PM: A noteworthy aspect that makes India reel in the opposition’s score is the fact that the batsmen are always willing to go for their shots. Fours and sixes flow from their bats at regular intervals. In contrast, the Oz players look to graft their runs from singles, twos and threes with an occasional 4 thrown in. The play is dangerous, but India have managed to ensure they carry of the strategy successfully more often than not. Like in everything else, one must learn to manage risk professionally and that is what Indians are doing.

8:05 PM: The loss of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma has not dented the confidence of the Indian batting duo. That is the difference between the players of yesteryears and the current crop – confidence. They refuse to say die and keep playing their game without going into their shell. This was present in foreign teams, but is now a strong point of Team India.

8:02 PM: SIX! What a shot by Kadar Jadhav.

8:01 PM: India now needs 131 runs off 101 balls

7:55 PM: At the same time, though the Oz team managed to take their score over 300, at the back of their mind would be the fact that the Indians have made huge scores look small on may occasions. Steve Smith would be thinking he would have ideally liked to have crossed the psychologically important mark of 350. He will have to live with the fact that the failure of his team to do that will encourage Indians to keep thinking positively and that is a big advantage.

7:54 PM: Two fours back to back.

7:53 PM: FOUR! terrific shot by Jadhav. Hardik Pandya, Kedar complete a 50 run partnership.

7:52 PM: Australian bowlers inability to stick to a line and length routine and rank bad approach means that India are very much in the match. Take for instance the last over bowled by Cummins. He gave away singles off the first four deliveries and off the fifth, he bowled a wide. The last delivery was sent racing to the ropes by Jadhav. Bhajji is quite right when he said that the Oz players lack quality! India are on 191/3.

7:50 PM: Much to the concern of Team India, though Hardik Pandya, whom iconic Indian all-rounder Kapil Dev called as good as or better than him even, is at the crease on 29 and Kedar Jadhav is giving him company at 13, the fact is that as many as 30 overs have passed and India have reached 182/3. Must hurry up, else the run rate will keep climbing. Pandya has shown that he is capable of pulling off miracles.

7:46 PM: Much to the concern of the fans, what initially looked like Team India heading towards an easy win has turned into an edge-of-the seat thriller. However, fans in the stands are undeterred at the moment, as they are shouting encouragement to the Indian players with gusto. Expectations are that India will still manage to ride to victory even if the cream of their batting, including captain Virat Kohli has been dismissed in uncharacteristic fashion.

7:45 PM: Score- India at 182/3 after 30 overs

7: 44 PM: Jadhav hits his first four in today’s match

7:38 PM: India now needs 161 runs off 131 balls to win

7:35 PM: And its two successive SIX by Pandya!

7:29 PM: Pandya completes 501 ODI runs.

7:26 PM: Two new players at the crease, Pandya and Jadhav.

7:24 Pm: 25th over ends with India taking 2 runs and loosing a big wicket.

7:20 PM: OUT! Virat Kohli bowled out for 21 runs. India loses two major wickets in quick succession.

7:18 Pm: Kohli hits a long 6 after a 4, bringing the team total to 147/ 4 after 24 overs

7:17 PM: Hardik Pandya comes to bat at number 4 again after Rohit Sharma returns back to the dressing room.

7:15 PM: Rohit Sharma out for 65 runs in 55 balls. India 135/2 in 23 overs.

7:14 PM: Kohli crosses 2000 runs as captain in 39 matches, 36 innings. surpasses AB de Villiers, Michael Clarke.

7:12 PM: India- 133/1 after 22.3 overs

7:11 PM: Captain Kohli send the ball out of the ground for a FOUR!

7:10 PM: Rohit Sharma hits a SIX!

7:00 PM: Kohli on the crease

6:55 PM:  Rahane OUT!

6:49 PM: FIFTY! for Ajinkya Rahane. It took him 57 balls to reach there. Great knock by the Indian opener. That’s his third fifty in a row but he needs to convert it into a big name to cement his place in the side. Live Score – 97/0 (16.4).

6:45 PM: This is how Umesh Yadav celebrated his 100th ODI wicket earlier in the day. He had an outstanding day despite going at over 7 an over:

5:42 PM: Tarvis Head is operating from one end now. A complete change in strategy for Australia after Stoinis’ injury. Thet are forced to bring Head on even though there is no sign of turn yet. His job would be to run through with his overs.

6:35 PM: Adam Zampa comes into the attack. He is an important player in the context of this game as well, especially now that Stoinis is off the field. India vs Australia Live Score – 72/0 after 12 overs.

6:32 PM: More problems for Australia! Marcus Stoinis is going off the field. He is not looking good. Ideally, Stoinis is giving Australia 10 overs in each match.

6:27 PM: India – 69/0 (11 overs)

Rohit Sharma – 28 (22)

Ajinkya Rahane – 40 (44)

6:24 PM: Kane Richardson into his second over. He leaked 12 in his first so this will be an interesting battle. Remember, Maxwell is not playing this match so Australia is already one bowler short.

6:21 PM: FOUR! Yet another one from Ajinkya Rahane’s blade. He is looking rock solid out there for India. This also takes India past 50.

6:15 PM: It has been the perfect start for the Indian team. This is exactly what Virat Kohli would have wanted. Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane have set the stage nicely for the batsmen to follow. However, they need to continue for another 5-6 overs to put India in a comfortable position. India Cricket Score – 48/0 after 8 overs.

6:10 PM: Another boundary for Ajinkya Rahane. Slightly short of length this time and guided past the thir-man fielder. Rahane is full of confidence. We may finally see a century from his bat.

6:05 PM: SIX! This time it’s Ajinkya Rahane. Short, outside-off from Nathan Coulter-Nile and all Rahane had to do was throw his arms at it. Maximum for India’s Test vice-captain.

6:01 PM: SIX! Massive by Rohit Sharma. He looks in fine touch. Brilliant by the Indian opener.

5:58 PM: A good start for India. Both the batsmen have got off a decent start. The ball is coming onto the bat nicely. There is a bit of the movement in the air as well but if Indian batsmen are able to play the first 10 overs without giving away wicket, we have a game in our hands. Live Score India – 25/0 after 4 overs.

5:55 PM: India – 20/0 (3 overs)

Rohit Sharma – 4 (4)

Ajinkya Rahane – 16 (14)

5:49 PM: India Score – 11/0 (13 overs)….Four! Another boundary for Ajnkya Rahane. This time it comes from the outside edge but it doesn’t matter as long as they came. In the past, we have seen some exciting run chases in India vs Australia encounters and this can another one of those.

5:46 PM: FOUR! Short, outside-off, Rahane lashes onto it. Smashes it past the point fielder. First boundary for India. At the end of 1st over, India is at 6/0.

5:44 PM: Rahane gets off the mark with a couple of runs down the fine leg. He must be full of confidence after scoring a half-century in the last match.

5:40 PM: So, we are back live! Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane are out in the middle. A lot depends on this opening duo. Pat Cummins takes the new ball for the visitors.Live Score India – 0/0 (0).

5:15 PM: This is a massive total but if there is one team that can chase it down, it is India. A lot will depend on the start. Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane have to give India a good start.

4:55 PM: Australia – 334/5 (50)

Matthew Wade -3 (3)

Marcus Stoinis – 15 (9)

4:49 PM: OUT! Umesh Yadav makes a brilliant comeback. He was smashed for a six by Handscomb but follows it with an excellent delivery. Handscomb misses, Yadav hits. Live Score Australia –  319/5 (48.5).

4:45 PM: At the end of the 48th over, Australia is at 306/4. With 12 balls to go, the visitors would look to go past 330 runs.

4:39 PM: OUT! Travis Head departs for 29. He tried to clear the rope but finds Rahane. Excellent catch by Indian opener. This is the third wicket for Umesh Yadav. He has been the outstanding performer this afternoon. Marcus Stoinis is the new man in. Live Score Australia – 300/4 (47).

4:37 PM: SIX! Huge one from Travis Head. He finally gets going. This what Australia need and they need it more.

4:34 PM: Not a good over by Shami, 12 runs came off it.Live Cricket Score – 287/3 (46).

4:26 PM: We are into the final 6 overs. It’s been a great comeback by the India team. Only 26 runs have come from the last 5 overs.

4:20 PM: This is how David Warner celebrated his 14th ODI century:

4:15 PM: We are into the final 8 overs. Mohammed Shami has four overs left so he will bowl from one end. From the other end, it is either going to be Umesh Yadav or Chahal. This India vs Australia match is heading towards an interesting point. Kedar Jadhav has 5 overs left as well, taking a gamble won’t be a bad option either. Score – 260/3 (42).
