After receiving clearance from the Cabinet last week, the state has directed Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) to go ahead with 9.41-km metro rail project, which will connect Dilshad Garden in New Delhi to Ghaziabad Bus Adda, based on the revised funding pattern.

Sources said the revised estimate was submitted by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) two years ago but was pending cabinet clearance. With the approval, the Centre too is expected to release its share soon.

In a letter to the GDA Vice-Chairman on Wednesday, the Uttar Pradesh Urban Development Department has specified the revised funding pattern from the earlier Rs 1,770 crore to Rs 2,210 crore. Stakeholders’ share in the project has been increased too.

Asked about the revised cost, Mukul Singhal, Principal Secretary, Housing and Urban Development, said the letter issued to the authority has been issued in accordance with the cabinet clearance.
