HYDERABAD: At a time when disclosures on involvement of Hyderabad parents in trafficking their daughters are making news, an Old City woman has approached Falaknuma police alleging her former husband had sold her daughter. Azmath has appealed for repatriation of her daughter. The complainant alleges that her daughter was trafficked to a Saudi man in the name of marriage six years ago.  “My husband Shareef abandoned me and my eight children in 2011 to marry another woman.

After that I had given him khula,” the complaint said. According to her, in 2011, while she was undergoing treatment in Charminar hospital, Shareef and his second wife married off her third daughter to a Saudi national without her knowledge. “I later learnt that she was sold to the man for `2 lakh,” she added. Falaknuma SHO P Yadagiri, when contacted, said, Azmath Begum’s daughter was 19 at the time of her marriage and Azmath has alleged that her daughter is being physically abused by her husband Abd El Khalig Mahgoub El Hussein.

“After living with her in Saudi for one year, he has shifted to his native Sudan. My daughter can’t communicate with Sudanese people and is unable to share her pain with anyone. Khalig thrashes her everyday,” she said. Based on Azmath Begum’s complaint on Wednesday, police have registered a case against Mohammed Shareef Khan and his second wife Reshma Begum. Meanwhile, ACP Falaknuma Tahjuddin Hamed welcomed Azmath’s step and said if more mothers determine to save their daughters, the police will easily be able to do their duty.
