Youngsters dazzle in a cultural extravaganza

KOCHI: Vyloppilly Samskruthi Bhavan is hosting a variety of cultural event for children in Thiruvananthapuram.The cultural fest which will go on till September 30, was inaugurated by M M Hassan. As part of the event, a number of programmes will be staged by various children’s organisations across the state. Gandhian Gopinathan Nair, V S Sivakumar MLA, Vyloppilly Samskruthi Bhavan Secretary M R Jayageetha, M R Thampan and Kattoor Narayanapillai will also be present for the function. The series of programmes which started off with a group dance performance by children, will end with Vidyarambham and an event honouring elders and teachers on September 30.
Vyloppilly Samskruthi Bhavan’s Koothambalam will host the cultural extravaganza during the first three days. Desheeya Balatharangam chairman , Sharathchandra Prasad said , “Approximately 10-12 organisations from the city will participate with a total of around 1,000 students participating. The events started off with a group dance performance by kids. There was also a Kaviyarangu in which young amateur poets participated from all over the city.”
Among the group of events is a dance performed by students of Kalyan school, a city-based school where mentally challenged students study along with the other students. The organisation chairman said, “ The Vidyarambham will have children from various religious communities who will also participate. There will be no restrictions.”Desheeya Balatharangam is a charitable organisation setup for children up to the age of 18, working for the past 14 years in the state .
This is an independent charitable organisation having more than one and a half million of children at present . It organises various social, cultural and patriotic programmes every year, including leadership training camps, regional and local classes for the formation of the future generation. One of the signature events of the organisation is the ‘Salabhamela’, a unique and colourful cultural-arts festival of students from different schools across the state.
