Richa Chadha. Kalki Koechlin. Road trip. Female friendship. Shattering stereotypes — if we had to describe the trailer of Jia aur Jia in a one-liner, this would be it. The powerhouse performances of Richa Chadha and Kalki Koechlin make the center of this lovely road trip film.
The trailer starts of with showing us how the character of Richa Chadha, an uptight banker called Jia, meets a Kalki Koechlin's Jia, a go-with-the-flow kind of personality. There is conflict in the beginning — Kalki's Jia shoplifts, steals food, washes her face with Vodka, all while Richa Chadha's Jia looks on bemused.
Slowly though, both Jias shed their inhibitions and become rather close, and the tone of the trailer changes from conflict to pure, unadulterated fun. They share hotel rooms, trailers, crazy travel memories and eventually, their secrets as well.
Finally a film on female friendships that isn't stereotypical (no cat fights, thank god) — infact, by the look of the trailer, Jia aur Jia seems to be extremely relatable, and reminded us a lot of Kangana Ranaut's Queen (in a good way)
The film is shot extensively in Sweden and will also have a special reprise song, Jia Ho Jia Kuch Bol Do from 1961 film Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai.
Jia Aur Jia is produced by Mirza N Askari and is presented by Blue Fox Motion Pictures Pvt ltd. It is slated to release on October 27.
