Eleven candidates in fray for Gurdaspur Lok Sabha bypoll

Eleven candidates are in the fray for the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha bypoll as none of the candidates withdrew nomination papers today, the last day of withdrawal.

Gurdaspur Lok Sabha bypoll, BJP, AAP, Kulwant Singh, Shiromani Akali Dal, Hindustan Shakti Sena, Vinod Khanna, Amritsar, Hindustan Shakti Sena The independent candidates contesting the election are: Satnam Singh, Sandeep Kumar, Pardeep Kumar, Parvinder Singh, and Pawan Kumar.

Eleven candidates are in the fray for the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha bypoll as none of the candidates withdrew nomination papers today, the last day of withdrawal. Among the major political parties, Congress has fielded Sunil Jakhar while BJP and AAP have given tickets to Swarn Salaria and Major General (Retd) Suresh Khajuria respectively. Candidates from other parties include Santosh Kumari of Megh Desham Party, Kulwant Singh of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) (Simranjit Singh Maan), and Rajinder Singh of Hindustan Shakti Sena.

The independent candidates contesting the election are: Satnam Singh, Sandeep Kumar, Pardeep Kumar, Parvinder Singh, and Pawan Kumar. “Polling would be held on October 11 and counting would be held on October 15,” an official spokesperson said. Gurdaspur Lok Sabha bypoll was necessitated following the death of BJP MP Vinod Khanna in April this year.
