The house of Adilabad MP G. Nagesh, located in the busy old Housing Board colony, was broken into last night.
This is the third such incident targeting MPs. In this instance, it involved a loss of jewellery worth an estimated Rs. 15 lakh, though the actual loss will be known only after the MP and his family arrives from out of town.
The incident came to light on Wednesday morning when the watchman detected the break in. The house was locked since the last three days after Mr. Nagesh left for Delhi.
The break-in seemed to be the handiwork of a single burglar according to the preliminary investigation, though the police could not make much headway. The CCTV cameras placed, not only around the building but also inside, were damaged and the recorder was missing as well.
The criminal apparently gained entry to the first floor initially by breaking open the door to the staircase. The burglar then entered the bedroom and ransacked all cupboards and box bed and the kitchen too.
