Maharashtra Navnirman Sena supremo Raj Thackeray made a Facebook post to express his concern about the increasing incidents of gagging the dissent of the incidents. In the Facebook post written in Marathi and English, Thackeray appealed to people to write to him if they receive any FIR registered against them because of a post on social media and said that he will personally look into the cases.

Attacking the BJP for targeting those who write against the govt, Thackeray said that the BJP is reaping what it sowed on social media.

Calling demonetisation a blunder resulting in large-scale unemployment and rise in inflation, he said if PM Modi calls himself a 'servant' and the janta (public) the 'king', he should be ready for being questioned by the king. He wondered out loud how questions directed at the prime minister's failed policies can lead to law and order situations.

"You derived immense pleasure in ridiculing other political parties and their leaders, but when tables turned on you, police force is being asked to intervene," Thackeray wrote.

"Photoshop techniques were used to display what really never existed. All the journalists and intellectuals who opposed the BJP had to suffer such humiliation and slander that on reading it, one actually got disillusioned with the entire gamut of social media. I, then wonder how come all of this didn't create a law and order situation?," Thackeray said in his post.

Raj Thackeray has also shared an email id and asked people to contact him in case they receive notices because of their posts on social media. He appealed to the police and other administrations not to harass the common people on the government's instructions as the governments keep changing.
