Press Trust of India  |  Hyderabad

The Customs officials have foiled a smuggling bid at the international airport here by seizing over 900 grams of gold, worth Rs 28.19 lakh, from two passengers who arrived from yesterday.

Based on the passenger profiling, the officers of the Air Intelligence Unit of the Customs seized four gold 'kadas' and five gold chains of foreign origin, collectively weighing 932 grams, from the two passengers who landed yesterday, a Customs official said.

"Both the passengers did not declare that they were carrying the gold chains which they were wearing when the officials intercepted them," he said, adding that the duo were not arrested yet.
