Puducherry medical scam accused will not be arrested till

A special public prosecutor for cases today gave an undertaking before the Madras High that Health Secretary B R Babu and four others will not be arrested in the medical scam case till October 9.

When the anticipatory bail of the officials came up before the Dussehra vacation judge Justice G R Swaminathan, special public prosecutor Srinivasan sought adjournment of the case till October 9.


He also gave an undertaking that till such time the case comes up for the next hearing, the accused will not be arrested.

The judge recorded the statement and adjourned the matter to October 9.

The central agency had registered a case against Babu, Central Admission Committee (CENTAC) chairman Kumar and 11 officials and private medical college administrators in connection with alleged irregularities in admission to postgraduate medical courses in

According to a recent FIR, "the accused officers cheated bona fide students who were issued provisional admission certificates during counselling by the Centralised Admission Committee (CENTAC), but were later denied the seats they were allocated".

It is alleged by the that the public servants abused their official position, entered into criminal conspiracy with private hospital officials and cheated the bona fide students in the admission process in 2017.
