TNN | Updated: Sep 27, 2017, 23:30 ISTKota: Congress workers led by ex-minister Bharat Singh on Wednesday staged demonstration in Kota against the anti-public policies of BJP-led governments in Centre as well as in the state and later burnt the effigy of Ravan, the devil symbolizing arrogance and evils in front of district collectorate. The Congress workers and the police also came face to face during the demonstration but the situation was soon controlled.
Kota District Congress, from the very first day of Navratra, has been staging demonstration against the policies of the BJP government and it was demonstration on the seventh day of Navratra today.
Addressing the party workers on this occasion, state minister in Ashok Gehlot led previous Congress government, Bharat Singh alleged BJP governments in state and at the centre of gross corruption and deceiving the people. Singh also alleged the chief executive officer of Kota Zila Parishad is indulged in gross corruption but the investigation against him very slow and partial.
Burning of the effigy of Ravan symbolizes the anti people government and administration, he said and added that around 24 people in last three years have been killed in the region due to stray cattle menace caused by negligence of administration and the chain of such events still continues while the government is talking about Smart City.
'People's voice is suppressed and their grievances neglected while the ruling governments in centre and state are busy in generating revenue', Singh said adding the prices of petrol and diesel are soaring. It is a misfortune that despite the big claims by the ruling governments for the welfare of farmers, the cultivators are not even getting pulses like Urad sold on minimum supported price (MSP) that is their urgent need, he added.
