Bhopal: The chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that preparations should begin for sacking the officers and employees who are consistently not performing according to expectations. Chouhan was addressing a meeting of the divisional commissioners here on Tuesday. He said that lists of such employees and officers, who have complete 50 years of age or 20 years in service, should be drawn. He said that he would fete the competent and performing officers on the MP Foundation Day but would also ensure that those who have become a burden on the government are sacked.
He said that a report on the drought situation, in keeping with the Central Government’s Drought Manual, should be prepared within four days. The chief secretary B P Singh had directed that the collectors to send in reports on the drought situation up to September 30 at a meeting on Monday. However, the chief minister overruled him the very next day.
He said that the drought situation should be assessed on parameters of deficient rainfall, no rainfall, lack of moisture in water, low water level in reservoirs and ponds etc. He said that a comprehensive action plan should be prepared for drought relief, adding that funds for its implementation would come from the National Disaster Relief Fund.
He said that survey should be conducted to assess the loss to crops and it should be done “liberally”. He said that the commissioners and collectors should coordinate in the work of drought relief and revenue-related matters. He said that in every district, there should be at least one village that should be idea in terms of Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme. He said that the names of persons who are no longer ‘poor’ should be removed from BPL list.
