Western Command felicitates 22 Army officers in Dehradun

Western Command Investiture Ceremony was conducted at Clement Town in Dehradun on Wednesday with Lt Gen Surinder Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command, felicitating 22 officers and soldiers of the Indian Army with gallantry and distinguished service awards.

Western Command Investiture Ceremony was conducted at Clement Town in Dehradun on Wednesday with Lt Gen Surinder Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command, felicitating 22 officers and soldiers of the Indian Army with gallantry and distinguished service awards.

A statement said that the soldiers were awarded “for their acts of bravery, exceptional devotion to duty and distinguished service to the nation. Stories of indomitable courage of the Brave hearts in the face of adversities charged the atmosphere with patriotic fervour”.

“Six of these awardees were honoured posthumously. Their wives had traveled from far off places in the country to participate in the award ceremony,” it said.

Guddi, the wife of late Naik Ram Singh, came from a village in Rewari district of Haryana. She said she would motivate both her sons to join the armed forces and follow in the footsteps of their father.

The Army Commander bestowed Unit Citation to 17 units of the Western Command for their meritorious and outstanding performance.
