Ayurvedic medicine and natural consumer products manufacturer Dabur on Tuesday announced a partnership with e-commerce firm Amazon India to sell 30 of its products to customers in the US, Canada and Mexico, in its efforts to strengthen its international play. The products will be sold on the global site, Amazon.com. With this alliance, Dabur now turns into a seller on Amazon, with the latter directly sourcing from the manufacturer, thus allowing both the firms to earn higher margins. Usually products, be it FMCG or any other category, are sold by distributors or vendors on e-commerce sites. “There is a huge demand for ayurvedic, chemical-free products in the international markets. The partnership will help us tap into demand from the Indian diaspora as well as local Americans,” said Krishan Kumar Chutani, ED – consumer care business, Dabur India.
Dabur, which will foray with products like Vatika hair oil, Chyawanprash and toothpaste into the US market, plans to launch 80 more products in the next quarter. Dabur isn’t the only company to directly sell on Amazon.com, the global e-commerce portal. Titan, Liberty Shoes, Fabindia, Organic India and 24 Mantra Organic are some of the brands that directly sell on the e-commerce site. “There are 26,000 sellers from India who are part of the global selling programme. Amazon will help provide Dabur a marketplace to showcase their vast range that will satiate the growing appetite for quality Indian products amongst global consumers,” said Gopal Pillai, director and GM, seller services, Amazon India.
