‘Focus on tourism vital for growth’

KAKINADA: Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu has said focus on tourism sector is vital for economic growth and Andhra Pradesh is in the forefront in tapping the potential of tourism by coming up with several initiatives.Speaking to newsmen at his camp office at Thimmapuram on the eve of World Tourism Day, he highlighted this year’s theme ‘Sustainable Tourism - a Tool for Development’.

The State government has come up with temple tourism, beach tourism and other novel concepts to attract tourists. The AP Tourism Department is organising a two-day Godavari Dance and Lantern Festival at Rajamahendravaram on Wednesday and Thursday to mark World Tourism Day, which will showcase the rich culture and heritage of Godavari region, the Finance Minister said.
