ALLAHABAD: Close to the heels of an alleged molestation incident on the BHU+ campus, an incident of eve-teasing has been reported on the Allahabad University (AU) campus.

On a written complaint of a girl student, the varsity administration has expelled Satyam Suryavanshi, a student of BA II, on the charges of eve-teasing a girl student on September 25.

"I had received a complaint from a girl student (her identity is not been disclosed by varsity) wherein she complained that the student concerned has molested her and based on her written complain, we have expelled him from AU and have also lodged an FIR," said AU proctor Prof Ram Sevak Dubey.

Sources said that on September 25, the aggrieved girl was passing besides the department of Ancient History when this student Satyam molested her. He was campaigning for an aspirant of AUSU election, polling for which would be held on Oct 14. The girl, which is in final year of BA, first approached the 'neta' (student leader) for whom Satyam was campaigning, but he refused to take cognizance of allegation saying that she is trying to malign his image.

The girl, after getting the needed information about the boy, went to the proctor's office and identified him from the sets of identity cards issued by the proctor office.

"When the girl identified the boy, I issued a show-cause notice to the boy, asking him to be present at the proctor's office along with his father on Wednesday. When no one turned up, I personally called his father who did not turn up following which, I have expelled him and requested the V-C to instruct the departments to cancel his enrollment from all the departments," said the proctor.

He also added that the boy can still meet the V-C and say if he has anything to say for his defence and the V-C can take appropriate decision.

An FIR has also been lodged in this connection in Colonelganj police station. "We have formed a team to nab the boy and would soon arrest him," said Colonelganj Inspector AK Singh.
