Day after Honeypreet Insan filed an appeal for anticipatory bail in the Delhi High court, the court rejected her appeal. The adopted daughter of Ram Rahim, who continues to remain untraceable even after a month, is facing charges of sedition and inciting violence after conviction of Dera Sacha Sauda chief in two rape cases, PTI reported. Recently, some reports had suggested that the main accused of the violence in Panchukula that followed the Dera chief’s conviction on August 25, might have escaped to Nepal. The violence had claimed at least 41 lives and some were even injured, the agency added. Honeypreet tops the list of 43 persons wanted by Haryana Police for the violence.

Hearing her case on Tuesday, the High Court said Honeypreet was not entitled to any “discretionary relief” as she has been evading arrest since the violence started. As per the report, the transit anticipatory bail application is meant to seek protection against arrest. The adopted daughter of Ram Rahim had sought protection from arrest during her transit from Delhi to Haryana to join investigation in the sedition case. The court further said that the application of Honeypreet was “not bonafide and has been filed with a view togain time” and delay the proceedings that going on in a Panchkula court, PTI added further .

The Delhi High Court had also noted that that Honeypreet remained non-committal in joining the investigation or surrendering. Her plea for protection to enable her to approach the Punjab and Haryana High Courtfor the relief was “without merit”. It added that even after a lookout notice against her, the police effort to apprehend her has still not yielded any results, the agency said.

Earlier in the day, the Panchkula Police had raided a residence in New Delhi for Honeypreet, who is on the run since Ram Rahim’s arrested.
