Union min visits SDI in angamaly

KOCHI: Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan visited the Skill Development Institute (SDI) of public sector oil companies in Angamaly on Tuesday.He interacted with the second-batch students who are undergoing six-month training in industrial trade courses. The minister also reviewed the activities and state-of-the-art facilities of the institute.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has set up Skill Development Institutes in various parts of the country as part of the ‘Skill India’ campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to bring out the best of the youth and to enhance their employability in the oil and gas industry and allied sectors.
All oil PSUs were advised to set up SDIs at various locations in the country. BPCL is the lead promoter of the SDI in Kochi. Prasad K Panicker, executive director, BPCL Kochi Refinery, S Somasekhar, chief executive officer, Skill Development Society, Kochi, and chief general manager (Advisory Engg), BPCL , among others were present.
