A special CBI court here today dismissed an application seeking a re-investigation into the murder former Dera Sacha Sauda manager Ranjit Singh.
The plea was filed by Krishan Lal, one of the accused in the case.
"The petition of Lal for re-investigation of the Ranjit Singh murder case has been dismissed," CBI counsel HPS Verma said here today.
Verma said that Lal had filed separate pleas, seeking re-investigation, inspection of the murder spot and recalling of witnesses in the murder case.
The CBI court had earlier heard the arguments of the prosecution and the defence on the applications filed by Lal and reserved the order.
Ranjit was shot dead in July 2002. He was murdered for his suspected role in circulating an anonymous letter which made allegations of sexual exploitation against Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, according to the prosecution.
The Dera chief was named as the main conspirator while the five other accused are Lal, Jasbir Singh, Sabdil Singh, Indersen and Avtar Singh.
Ram Rahim Singh was sentenced to 20-year imprisonment for raping two disciples. He is lodged in the Sunaria jail in Rohtak.
On August 25, after the CBI court convicted Ram Rahim Singh in the rape case, violence erupted in Panchkula and Sirsa in which 41 people died.
