Crude oil rose Rs 28 to Rs 3,456 per barrel at the futures market today as speculators indulged in creating speculative positions, taking positive cues from Asian markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in November contract was trading higher by Rs 28 or 0.82 per cent at Rs 3,456 per barrel in a business turnover of 155 lots. Likewise, the oil for delivery in October gained Rs 26 or 0.76 per cent to Rs 3,428 per barrel in 4,666 lots.
Analysts said speculative positions created by tradersm as oil prices edged up in Asia today after an industry report was said to have shown an unexpected decline in crude inventories, supported the upmove.
Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate gained 29 cents or 0.56 per cent to $52.17, while global benchmark Brent was up 24 cents or 0.41 per cent at $58.68 a barrel.
