BHUBANESWAR: Capital Hospital doctors on Monday referred BJD MLA Pravat Ranjan Biswal to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack after he complained of uneasiness and severe back pain on Sunday night.According to the doctors of Capital Hospital, the MLA also complained of numbness in his right leg. A four-member team of the hospital was treating Biswal since he was admitted on Friday night. The doctors had conducted blood test, ultrasound, x-ray besides other tests on Biswal, and reports suggested minimal complications, sources said.

The MLA was referred to SCB Medical so that he can be examined by the neurosurgery and gastroenterology specialists there. He reportedly had undergone a bariatric surgery and a spinal cord surgery a few months back. The CBI had arrested Biswal on September 19 in connection with the multi-crore Seashore Group chit fund scam and had taken him on remand for further questioning.
Meanwhile, the MLA’s lawyer has approached Khurda District and Sessions Judge Court on Monday seeking bail on health grounds. The court is yet to pronounce its verdict.
