The startling revelation made by District Collector A. Devasena against ruling party MLA M. Yadagiri Reddy has gone viral, drawing attention of one and all here on Tuesday.
Ms Devasena, inspecting the tank for Bathukkamma immersion arrangements, took objection to levelling of Dharmoni Kunta on the town outskirts by the MLA and his followers. He allegedly levelled 5.5 acres out of the total nine acres of tank land. It was meant for receiving drain water of Jangaon town. The MLA also registered 2,000 square yards of tank land in his name. As the tank was encroached upon, the drain was let into Nellutla tank, which was meant for drinking and irrigation purposes.
Reacting strongly to this, the District Collector said she cancelled the registration of land by the MLA and levelling of tank land in the name of development.
“Everything is illegal and the State government will not sanction money for this. Encroachment of tank land is against Supreme Court ruling,” Ms Devasena said.
The other day, MLA Reddy tried to pressure the District Collector by inviting Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari for a visit to the tank and see arrangements for the Bathukamma festival final day event.
The MLA was earlier reprimanded by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for interfering in temple land issue.
