Jodhpur: Mortal remains of martyr Ganpat Ram Kadwasra were consigned to flames at his parental village Khudiyala amid the military honour on Tuesday afternoon. Thousands thronged the village to attend the funeral of this son of the soil from 20 Jat Regiment of the Army who had achieved martyrdom in Tangdhar sector of J&K on Sunday during a cross-border firing. He was survived by his wife.
The mortal remains of Kadwasra reached his village on Tuesday in a military vehicle with full honour. The crowd chanted slogans like "shaheed Ganpatram amar rahe" and "Jab tak sooraj chand rahega, Ganpatram tera naam rahega". The moment, his remains were alighted from the vehicle, entire atmosphere turned gloomy with an apparent anger against the terrorists and Pakistan.
The administrative officials and the public representatives present on the occasion offered floral tribute to the martyr and consoled the family members. 85 armed regiment guard gave a guard of honour to the martyr with 21 gun shots. A farmer of the village Ved Prakas Boob offered space in his farm for the funeral.
While his younger brother Pukharam offered the flames to the pyre, his father Punaram appearing proud of his son's gallantry, demanded a severe action against Pakistan for its dastardly act.
Pukharam himself is determined to join the army and father is equally determined to encourage him to join the defence services. Punaram said that he had appeared in a recruitment rally recently.
Ganpatram had returned back to job after a month's leave on September 7 and was sent to J&K thereafter. Eldest of all the four brothers, Ganpatram was the only earning member in the family with two younger brothers studying in school.
