GST revenue collection for August at Rs 90,670 crore

The government today announced that GST revenue collection for August up until September 25 was Rs 90,670 crore. That is a drop from the Rs 95,000 crore collected in July.
There was also a sharp decline in the number of people filing their returns, as only 37.63 lakh registered tax payers out of 68.20 lakh have filed their GSTR 3B form during the period.
The last date for payment of GST as well as filing of GSTR 3B return for the month of August 2017 was September 20th, 2017.
The government said it received Rs 14,402 crore under CGST, while SGST revenue collections were at Rs 21,067 crore. The IGST revenue collection was at Rs 47,377 crore.
The government also stated that it collected Rs 7,823 crore under GST Compensation Cess.
