According to a report on Variety, Netflix will use this technology for mobile devices so that the users can have access to it, while on plane. Doing so, the passengers can have access to Netflix, via better in-flight WiFi.

It intends to extend this service by 2018.

As per the report, In 2015, the Netflix had inked a deal with the Virgin America to offer free, in-flight WiFi on some aircrafts. According to Variety, Netflix has partnered with airlines like the Virgin carrier, Qantas, and Aeromexico.

A Reuters report had stated that, "more than one-fifth of young adults who stream shows like Game of Thrones or Stranger Things borrow passwords from people who do not live with them." It has even lead to speculations that password sharing on Netflix may soon be a thing of past; since Thomson Reuters has predicted a Netflix shares slump from 31 percent in the second quarter this year to 19 percent next year.

Recently, Netflix was in active talks with the Disney to retain its streaming rights over the Disney shows. This came after Disney announced that it was pulling new Disney and Pixar films from Netflix starting with its new releases in 2019 and will put the movies on a new Disney-branded online service.
