Indore: Youth, female friend held for harassing girl over phone

Indore: A youth and girl were caught by We Care For You cell of city police for allegedly harassing a girl over her mobile phone by posing self as police officials on Monday. The accused were handed over to Lasudiya police station staff for further action. Lasudiya area resident girl had lodged a complaint with ASP (crime) Amarendra Singh that an unidentified person is making calls to her mobile phone posing as a police official.

The accused told her over phone that you had borrowed money from Ratna Vishwakarma and a complaint regarding this made by Ratna with police so you have to reach MIG police station. Victim tried to ask his name but accused started abusing her. The accused had also made obscene calls to her. Victim has stated in her complaint that a girl had also made calls to her friends’ mobile phones with same mobile number and she had abused and threatened them over phone as well.

After receiving complaint, cell officials also made phone calls to the accused but they did not admitted their fault and started abusing them too. Cell officials later started investigation and managed to nab the accused Sanjay Lodhi of Pancham Ki Phel area of the city and his friend Ratna on the basis of phone location.


Accused Sanjay told the cell officials that he hails from Narsinghpur district and is presently preparing for a competitive exam living in a rented accommodation in the city. He works in a calls center part time where he befriended Ratna. Accused Ratna told the police that she hails from Chhindwara district and the victim is her acquaintance.

She had lent money to victim few times ago but she did not repay money for many days so that she had planned to threaten her for money over mobile phone.
