Bhopal: While increasing number of cases against children have left people worried, however, a recent incident of a minor girl being harassed by boys as young as ten years have sent shock waves across the city.  Some attribute the misdeeds by these young kids to excessive exposure to social media and other such mediums which are leaving adverse effect on these young and impressionable minds.

In an attempt to address the problem, a group of ladies belonging to NH 12 creative Women’s club organised an interactive session with boys of Naveen Higher secondary school to get an idea as what is corrupting children’s mind. The seminar focused on the saving young minds from being infested with obscene thoughts. Giving word of advice to these young minds, the club members asked them to set goals and remain focused instead of wasting time on surfing useless content of social media.

The women in unison said instead asking our boys to behave properly and decently, we expect our daughters to stay safe. We need to ensure that our boys respect women and have caring attitude towards them, and this is the theme of our session, said Anshu Gupta.

It is our moral responsibility to save our children from vulgarity and for this the society will have come to forward, said Anshu Gupta, a member of the club. We have been working in this direction but all the efforts towards the issue will remain incomplete unless we address the very root of the problem. A young mind is highly impressionable and we can’t overlook what these minor boys are watching as it is seriously impacting their minds.

Jaya Arya, a motivational speaker member of the club, gave various tips to the students and motivate them to work towards their goals.

Another member of the club Renuka Mehta, counselor in women police station said that we all should focus on betterment of our society instead of spending time on social networking sites without any purpose. She also asked the students to limit the use of social networking sites and use it for educational purpose and advised them to keep away from sites which are providing vulgar content as it might land them in trouble.
