Uttarakhand govt gives financial assistance to martyr's kin

Chamoli District Magistrate Ashish Joshi handed the cheque to the martyr's father Anand Singh, also a former soldier, at a small function held at the collectorate here and announced the state government's support to the family.


Raghubir's widow, Rekha Devi, will also get Rs 6 lakh as financial assistance from the state and an additional Rs 2 lakh for constructing a house, the DM said.

Raghubir, who belonged to the Mahar regiment of the Indian Army, succumbed to injuries suffered during an anti- militant operation in Kulgam town of on February 12.

The resident of Chamoli district's Maikholi village was posthumously awarded the Shaurya Chakra.
