‘Andhra Pradesh leading in implementing reforms, welfare plans’

A stable government was required for initiating key reforms and taking and implementing the decisions fast and effectively. Such a government was formed at the Centre under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. And Andhra Pradesh was in the forefront in initiating reforms and implementing welfare programmes, said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday.

He was addressing the inaugural session of the 11th round of a three-week mandatory Phase-V Mid-career training programme for IAS officers at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) at Mussoorie.

Explaining the reforms initiated in Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Naidu showcased ‘CM Core dashboard’ built to facilitate real-time governance where the State could monitor welfare schemes and other government services in real time. The AP government had introduced the CM Connect, Parishkara Vedika, Kaizala and the People First applications to address public grievances. These initiatives were aimed at promoting good governance. “We want to ultimately achieve 80% plus public satisfaction levels,” he said.

The State has plans to connect every home in the State through the fiber grid project. “AP is leading with steady growth rate. In the first quarter, it has achieved 11.72% growth rate while the country’s average is 5.6%. We have selected 10 sectors as growth engines contributing the maximum growth of the State,” he said. The State had been implementing the latest technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), machine learning, drones, sensors and geo-tagging to improve governance.

Highlighting the importance of environment, Mr. Naidu said AP was aiming to achieve 50% green cover by 2029. The government was developing a smart water grid by conserving water and linking of rivers. Andhra Pradesh achieved 100% electrification and 24/7 power supply to every household. Now, it was marching towards smart power grid with the help of technology, he said.

“I had the fortune of building a brownfield city, Cyberabad. Now I am building a Greenfield city, Amaravati. My State, Andhra Pradesh is a new State, only three years old. It is like a small child. I will nurture it carefully,” he said.
