The joint commissioner of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has issued a notice to the state government about pending advertisement tax.
The government used 385 bus stops to display its advertisements but has not paid tax on it. According to the joint commissioner, the government owes Rs 12.98 crore. These ads depict the achievements of the government over the years, said a senior BBMP officer.
“The government should pay advertisement tax, rent for the land and service tax from March 2016 to June 30, 2017. We have issued two demand notices but the government has not yet made the payment,” says the notice to the Department of Information and Public Relations on September 15.
