UPPER MERION >> Students, teachers and staff at the Upper Merion Area High School, in recognition of the International Day of Peace, and in statement against intolerance as seen in recent national events such as the violent demonstrations in
Charlottesville, participated in a school-wide walkout.
The walk-out was a culminating demonstration for student body organizations such as No Place for Hate after a week-long awareness of announcements via The Morning Buzz that raise awareness to the school community values of tolerance, acceptance, and non-violence as part of a democratic society. During the walk-out, each student organization shared
expressions of commitment to a safe and inclusive community. Students created the formation of a peace sign in the center of the field, while linking arms in solidarity.
