Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike seeks Rs 1,664 crore to repair damage due to rain

BENGALURU: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad has sought a special grant of `1664.07 crore from the state Urban Development Department to take up repair works.Prasad’s letter to the Additional Chief Secretary (Urban Development) says that due to heavy rains between August 15 and September 3, many basic amenities like roads, pedestrian ways, drains, culverts, lakes and other amenities were damaged, causing inconvenience to the public. BBMP officials conducted a study at all the eight zones and assessed the damage. The commissioner told Express that they sent the letter on September 4 and it will take sometime to get the works sanctioned.
