Renault Captur: All You Need To Know

The Captur SUV is Renault India's next big launch in India and we will see the car enter the market ahead of Diwali this year. It's another SUV to the company's portfolio and we expect it to be priced aggressively. Here's all we know about the car.

Renault had tasted success in India when it launched the Duster compact SUV here. Later these SUV proportions were the inspiration of the Kwid, which brought the French carmaker back into the game and now, once again, the company is looking to turn things around by entering a premium segment which has seen a significant amount of growth very recently. The company is bringing in the Captur and because we’ve driven the car recently, there’s a lot we know about it now. Here’s all you need to know about the new Renault Captur

  1. The Captur will be launched in India in October, and while a date hasn’t yet been set for it, Renault has officially opened bookings for the SUV. 
  2. The Captur is based on the same M0 platform as the Renault Duster
  3. It measures 4329 mm in length, 1813 mm in width and 1619 mm in height and this makes it slightly longer than the Duster, while being narrower and shorter in height. The wheelbase, however, remains unchanged.

  4. The Captur boasts of a ground clearance of 210 mm which according to the folks at Renault is the highest clearance of all the Captur iterations worldwide. 
  5. The LED daytime running lights, floating front indicators (a la Audi), black cladding, 17” alloys, ‘ripple effect’ taillights and even safety features like dual airbags, ABS and EBD are standard.                                                                                                                 Also Read: Renault Captur SUV Review
  6. The console houses a touch screen with audio and navigation – much like the one seen in the Duster, Lodgy, and even the Kwid. The interface is also similar, but there is no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto

  7. Boot space is 392 litres and with the second row folded down that expands to 1352 litres.
  8. The Captur comes with 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol puts out 104 bhp while the diesel churns out 108.

  9. Expect prices of the new Renault Captur to be in the range of ₹ 12-15 lakhs
  10. The new Renault Captur will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Jeep Compass and Mahindra XUV500 in India.
