Mumbai: The Mumbai Central Railway Police has arrested a 37-year-old finance executive for allegedly molesting a woman at Dadar station late on last Friday. The accused was arrested for allegedly pinching the victim.
On Friday, the 25-year-old woman had boarded a second class ladies compartment from Goregaon while travelling to Churchgate. The incident took place at around 9:10 pm when the victim alighted at the crowded Dadar station. The victim’s strong presence of mind helped the cops arrest the accused as she rushed to the on-duty railway police official at Dadar station.
“The victim described the incident to the on-duty railway police and they chased the accused and arrested him at Dadar station,” said a senior railway police official at Mumbai Central. The accused, identified as Mayur Ghankutkar, works as a finance executive in a Bandra-based private firm. The Mumbai Central railway police arrested the accused under the Indian Penal Code section of 354 (A) (1) for physical contact, advances involving unwelcome and explicit sexual overtures. The accused was produced before a railway court and remanded in judicial custody till September 29. The victim works in London and is a resident of Sion.
