CAT registration at 2.31 lakh, sees year-on-year dip

MUMBAI: Common Admission Test (CAT) registration numbers for entry into the prestigious IIMs as well as other leading B-schools have declined very slightly to around 2.31 lakh, compared to approximately 2.32 lakh in 2016, said CAT 2017 convenor, professor Neeraj Dwivedi of IIM Lucknow.
The entrance test is slotted on November 26 this year.
CAT numbers had seen a seven-year low in 2013 at 1.94 lakh, almost 33% down from a high of 2.9 lakh in 2008.
In 2014, registrations increased slightly to 1.95 lakh while in 2015, a five-day extension in the registration window took the total tally to 2,18,664.
According to IIM Lucknow, the organising IIM for CAT 2017, an extension of the registration window to September 25 evening resulted in the addition of 20,000-odd registrations in the extended time of 5 days.
CAT 2017 exam will be a computer based test with total 100 questions to be completed within 180 minutes.
