Bhayandar: A 24-year-old youth allegedly committed suicide in his rented flat in a Mira Road high-rise. The deceased, identified as Uttkarsh Shasikant Patel was from Gujarat. He was unemployed and stayed alone on the 1st floor of Arnica Tower in the Jangid Enclave area of Mira Road (east). The police was informed after several rings of the doorbell went unanswered.
A police team reached the spot on Sunday afternoon and opened the door with the help of duplicate keys sourced out from the flat owner. Patel’s partly decomposed body was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his bedroom. While the exact cause is yet to be ascertained, depression owing to a strained relationship is suspected to be the reason behind the extreme step. However, no suicide note was recovered. The police suspect that he may have hanged himself a couple of days ago.
