NEW DELHI: The government will launch promotion campaigns for its flagship scheme Mudra Yojana, starting September 27.

Launched in 2015 by the Prime Minister, Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY), aims to provide formal access of financial facilities to non-corporates, small businesses.

A government statement noted that 50 promotion campaign will be organised in different parts of the country where the union ministers will be participating among others.

The campaign will kick start in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh where the union minister for railway and coal, Piyush Goyal will participate.

On October 2, a similar function will be held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, which will be attended by Nitin Gadkari, union minister for road transport and highways, shipping and water resources, river development. The promotion campaigns will be launched by the department of financial services and state level banking committee (SLBC) of different states will actively participate and coordinate all these campaigns.

Till August 13, under PMMY around Rs 8.70 crore loan where disbursed out of whichRs 6.56 crore were given to woman. While the target for 2016-17 was Rs 1,80,000 crore the sanctioned amount is Rs 1,80,528 crore.

Mudra promotions will be held in Patna, Shimla, Chandigarh, Chennai, Srinagar, Indore, Ludhiana, Meerut Johdpur, Bhuvaneshwar, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Lucknow among others.
