WWE No Mercy Results: Brock Lesnar finally gets the better of Braun Strowman

For four straight weeks and even at the previous pay-per-view in WWE SumerSlam, Braun Strowman had proven to be handful for Brock Lesnar. Each time Lesnar challenged Strowman to a physical duel, he was up to task and got the better of The Beast. But that run of dominance ended with Lesnar winning their WWE Universal Championship title match at WWE No Mercy at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles. By winning the main event at WWE No Mercy, Lesnar continued his reign at the top and defended his title.

Despite earning plaudits from Lesnar’s agent Paul Heyman for the sheer dominance and manhandling he’s bestowed upon the WWE Raw locker room, Strowman failed in his quest to wear the title belt for a second pay-per-view in a row.

Strowman dominated the proceedings and for about half of the match looked to end Lesnar’s run as champion. In the early exchanges, the only offense Lesnar had to his name was a German Suplex and a right hand. He kicked out of a Running Powerslam and bludgeon to keep the contest going.

With his regular WWE game not cutting it with Strowman, Lesnar went to his mat game and applied a Kimura Lock that reduced The Monster Among Men to his knees. He managed to reach the ropes and come back with a spinebuster but the physical drain was now too much for him to handle. Now as Lesnar entered Suplex City, Strowman wasn’t able to move around as comfortably. However, even six suplexes later, Strowman wasn’t ready to go down and concede.

Strowman answered Brock’s F-5 attempt with a pair of Running Powerslams but injured his arm in the process to ruin his cause of hoisting the title at the top of his shoulders. Seeing the opportunity, Lesnar used whatever energy available to him and delivered an F-5 to pick up three count and extend his Universal Championship reign.
