NEW DELHI: Shares of Tata Power (number of shares traded: 0.15 crore), State Bank of India (0.14 crore) and Vedanta (0.12 crore) were trading as the most active stocks in terms of volume on NSE in Monday's early trade.

Ashok Leyland (0.10 crore), Axis Bank (0.10 crore), DLF (0.10 crore), Hindalco Industries (0.09 crore), ICICI Bank (0.09 crore), ITC (0.09 crore), Tata Steel (0.08 crore), Tata Motors (0.08 crore) and Bank of Baroda (0.07 crore) were also in the league.

Domestic equity markets extended their losses for the fifth straight session on Monday following weak global cues.

The BSE Sensex lost 266 points and NSE Nifty index breached the psychological level of 9,900 soon after opening.

At 09.37 hours, Nifty50 index was trading 91 points down at 9,873, while Sensex was trading at 31,689, down by 233 points.

Adani Ports, Lupin, Axis Bank, State Bank of India and Tata Steel declined over 2 per cent in BSE Sensex index.

Power Grid was topping the chart with 1 per cent gain. Hindustan Unilever, NTPC and Tata Consultancy Services were the other stocks that were gaining marginally.

On the NSE, 159 stocks were advancing, compared with 1390 stocks declining and 409 stocks remaining unchanged.

On BSE, 265 stocks were advancing whereas 1,595 stocks were lagging and 66 stocks were appearing unchanged.
