A senior journalist from Kerala was allegedly beaten up and stripped in front of his family by police officers on Sunday, reports ANI. Sajeev Gopalan is now in the hospital with serious neck injuries.
The 49-year-old journalist alleged that he was targeted because he did a story against the cops a few months back for a Malayalam newspaper called Kalakaumudi. "Two police officials hit me on my neck, kicked and stripped me," Gopalan told NDTV. He said that he was assaulted at his home in front of his wife and 15-year-old daughter.
The policemen reportedly mentioned the story that he had done for the newspaper while assaulting him.
Thiruvananthapuram Rural SP P Asok Kumar has said that 'strict action' will be taken against the police officers if they are found guilty.
