Super 30: Hrithik Roshan, not Akshay Kumar, to play mathematician Anand Kumar in biopic

Super 30, a biopic based on Patna mathematician Anand Kumar, has created a lot of buzz recently, as reports suggested that either Hrithik Roshan or Akshay Kumar will play the lead role. While it was previously reported that there was a fall-out between co-producers Madhu Mantena and Priti Sinha over the choice of the lead actor, but it has now been confirmed that Roshan has been officially signed on for the project, reports Hindustan Times.

"2017 has been great for Hrithik, so after impressing audiences as well as critics in Kaabil early this year as a visually-impaired man, he will start shooting for the Anand Kumar biopic within a few days. It goes without saying that makers are excited about Hrithik coming on-board for the film as he has always been their first choice," said an insider to the daily.

The same report states that Kumar himself approves of this casting decision, calling Roshan the "best choice" for the role. He has vouched for the actor because of his versatility and range, as well as his ability to portray the emotional quotient of characters. Anand Kumar runs a program which helps Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) aspirants to crack its entrance test, and the film will tell the story of this program as well as the other aspects of his life.

The source quoted in the report also revealed that Bahl, Roshan and Kumar had met earlier to discuss the nitty-gritties of the film. A picture of this meeting went viral on social media.

The producers Mantena and Sinha reportedly pitched Roshan and Kumar respectively. Their fall-out is also said to have been the result of dealings with Reliance (Phantom Film's partner) on the part of Mantena, who did not make Sinha aware of these developments.

Super 30 will be directed by Vikas Bahl, who is said to be collaborating with and taking inputs from Kumar to ensure that he could capture the true spirit of the latter's life.
