Former U.S. Congressman Anthony Weiner was sentenced to 21 months in prison on Monday for sending sexually explicit messages to a 15-year-old girl which set off a scandal that played a role in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Colette Luke has more.

Former U.S. Congressman Anthony Weiner sentenced to 21 months in prison on Monday for the sexting scandal that rocked the 2016 U.S. presidential election… 53-year-old Weiner, who pleaded guilty in May , was sentenced by a District Judge in Manhatten for sending sexually explicit messages to a 15-year-old girl… An investigation into Weiner's exchanges with a North Carolina high school student roiled the 2016 election in the final days when, during a search of his laptop, authorities found emails from his wife Huma Abedin, a top aide for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton… That discovery prompted a reopening of the FBI probe into Hillary Clinton's emails. Abedin, who has a five-year-old son with Weiner, filed for divorce back in May. (upsound weiner) Weiner's lawyers had asked that he be sentenced to probation rather than prison, saying he acted out of (quote) 'depths of an uncontrolled sickness' and was now being treated….
