HYDERABAD: Demanding allotment of housing plots, hundreds of  former servicemen and their family members have took out a rally in Alwal on Sunday.

The rally started at Venkateswara temple where ex-servicemen staged a rally holding placards and demanding allotment of housing plots in the city. The rally concluded at the Ambedkar statue where they submitted representation against the callous attitude of government.

Malkajgiri MLA Kanaka Reddy also participated in the rally by extending his support to ex-servicemen.
Addressing the gathering, the MLA promised that he would bring the issue to the notice of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to allot the housing land at Jawaharnagar. The MLA further assured that he would consult with the Malkajgiri MP Malla Reddy to meet the CM.

Telangana ex-servicemen Welfare Association founder, president Rangaiah Goud said that the government has allotted 6,000 acres in Jawaharnagar for distributing housing plots to ex-servicemen few years ago. However, private persons and businessmen have encroached the lands.

“At present, 2,000 acres of land is available. Even the court directed the governments, there has been no response,’’ Rangaiah Goud said. He demanded the government to comply with the direction of court.
