NEW DELHI: Realty stocks such as Indiabulls Real Estate (down 5.07 per cent), Unitech (down 5.04 per cent), Phoenix Mills (down 4.63 per cent), Delta Corp (down 3.96 per cent), Housing Development & Infrastructure (down 3.34 per cent) and Prestige Estates Projects (down 2.59 per cent) tanked up to 5 per cent in Monday's trade, causing Nifty Realty index extend the losses for the fourth session.

The Nifty Realty was trading 2.29 per cent down at 266.70 around 11 am (IST), while benchmarks Nifty50 index was trading 0.96 per cent down at 9,869 and Sensex was 0.80 per cent down at 31,667.

Shares of Oberoi Realty (up 4.67 per cent) stood as the sole gainer in the index around that time.

Shares of Oberoi Realty caught investors' attention on reports of it acquiring around 60 acres land of Glaxosmithkline Pharmaceuticals, GSK Pharma, in Thane, Maharashtra.

Besides realty, metal, bank and auto indices also fell sharply.

In the Nifty Metal index, JSW Steel (down 6.07 per cent), Nalco (down 5.52 per cent), Jindal Steel (down 5.08 per cent), APL Apollo Tubes (down 4.09 per cent) and Tata Steel (down 4.05 per cent) dragged Nifty Metal index over 3 per cent lower to 3,366-level.

On the NSE, 167 stocks were advancing, compared with 1452 stocks declining and 355 stocks remaining unchanged.

On BSE, 303 stocks were advancing whereas 1,954 stocks were lagging and 98 stocks were appearing unchanged.
