Ujjain: An event was held to mark 8th death anniversary of veteran journalist Shivkumar Vatsa at Kalidas Sanskrit Academy on Sunday. A souvenir compiling memories and works of late journalist ‘Yaadon Mein Shivkumar Vatsa’ was also released. A documentary film sequencing life of Vatsa was also shown. His contemporaries shared various anecdotes in the event.
Senior journalist Sharad Dwivedi from Bhopal said he began his journalistic career under the guidance of Vatsa. He said that ego never touched the person who possessed such intrinsic knowledge of various fields. He never lost his humility throughout his life. Former minister Babulal Jain said an outspoken journalist he was never afraid of speaking out his mind. MLA Mohan Yadav said Prof Vatsa used always guided him.
Former Member of Parliament Satyanarayan Pawar said Vatsa as media consultant of chief minister of Madhya Pradesh displayed honesty and truthfulness. ADG V Madhukumar called him an inspirational personality. Author Shiv Chourasia said that Vatsa was a proficient teacher of English and would count in eminent journalists working in English language.
Veteran astrologer Pt Anand Shankar Vyas chaired the programme. Other guests including Shiv Sharma and Pilkendra Arora also addressed the event and shared their thoughts on Vatsa. Sandeep Vatsa, Manoj Vatsa and Sangeeta Vatsa welcomed guests, including editor Ramesh Dixit. Jafar Mehmood conducted the event and Vishal Hada proposed vote of thanks.
