Lord Malayappa Swamy being taken out on Chinna Sesha Vahanam at Tirumala on Sunday morning | Express

TIRUPATI: Lord Malayappa Swamy was taken out on Chinna Sesha Vahanam on Sunday morning, the second day of the ongoing annual Brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala. Thousands of devotees had gathered in the galleries before the break of dawn to witness the celestial procession.

Vasuki, the Lord of Serpents, is the Chinna Sesha Vahanam of Lord Venkateswara during the annual Brahmotsavams and the legend is that by witnessing the procession, one can attain good health and blessings of the Lord.

Later in the evening, Snapana Thirumanjanam, a ritual to cleanse the processional deities was performed. Garlands made of dry fruits and different flowers were used to adorn the deity. The temple priests said that the ritual is to provide a brief respite to the Lord, who was busy with various rituals since the commencement of the annual event.

In the night, Malayappa Swamy was taken out on Hamsa Vahanam in the form of Goddess Saraswati. Young and old alike worshipped the Lord with folded hands. It is believed that having darshan of the Lord in Saraswati avatar will bless one with knowledge, leading to a good life.

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has made elaborate arrangements to facilitate hassle-free darshan of Vahana Sevas to devotees during the annual mega religious festival.
