UPA didn’t take single step in 10 yrs to curb black money: Jaitley

NEW DELHI: Disagreeing with the Congress leaders’ analysis of the impact of demonetization, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today attacked the UPA for ”not taking a single step” against corruption.

Form 2004 to 2014, the UPA did not act against black money and corruption, so it was natural that it should oppose any action being taken now to root out these evils, Mr Jaitley said replying to questions at a media briefing on the BJP national Executive meet here.

”On the other hand our Government has taken a series of measures against corruption and black money, so those at the receiving end are feeling uneasy,” he said. Mr Jaitley said he did not agree with the view taken by some people on the effect of the note ban on the economy.

He said the economy was sound for three years, and  the dip happened in the last three months, but the Government was addressing the concerns over the slowdown in GDP growth. (AGENCIES)
