To protect and serve, or serve and protect. Depending on which side of the law you stand, it's either really important to you to ensure that they are well equipped or you pray everyday that your local armory catches on fire. If you are one of the latter, then these are some police departments you’d rather not mess with. These standard issue motorcycles are some of the craziest machines on the planet and possibly the last thing you want to see in your rearview mirror.

Suzuki Hayabusa If they can hear you coming then you better be fast. And if you’re going to be fast you might as well be the fastest. What even better is that Queensland police is using their Hayabusa without the full markings, to track drivers who’ve been violating laws not bank robberies or anything. If you’ve been speeding, texting while driving or not using your seatbelt in Queensland, and you see a Hayabusa in your rear-view then we suggest you pull over. Because the Hayabusa can hit the ton in a throat drying 2.6 seconds.

Zero MMX An electric motorcycle for a police department may seem like a ridiculous idea, the Los Angeles Police Department, thinks otherwise. The Zero MMX which is an electric ADV motorcycle, is their weapon of choice, of course their bike has some slight modifications in the form of a specialised dashboard and a hot-swap battery, emergency lights, sirens and larger panniers for all the gear that goes with it. Not to mention that an electric bike is exactly what you would want for sneaking up on perps.

Yamaha MT-09 Paris Milipol Now this motorcycle is neither spectacularly fast or spectacularly quiet, what Paris Milipol Yamaha MT-09 Tracer is designed to dart about in small spaces and through the back-lanes of Paris. Although it is no slouch the MT-09 speeding, texting while driving, and seat belt usage.9 hits a top whack of more than 200 kmph and will stop on a dime. It is also one of the lighter bikes of weighing in at only 230 kilos.

Harley Davidson Street 750- Kolkata Police Let’s not forget our own home state, the Kolkata Police have ditched their signature old red Royal Enfield cruisers and swapped them out for the more ready for attack Harley Davidson Street 750, which was built specially for India without the optional ABS. Now while it’s not a particularly exciting motorcycle in anyway, it does add a bit of oomph to our own homegrown and that’s why it’s on this list.
