The Tamil Nadu government on Monday constituted an inquiry commission to probe the death of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa nearly 10 months ago.
Justice A. Arumughaswamy, a retired judge of the Madras High Court, will head the Commission of Inquiry, a press release from the Directorate of Information and Public Relations said.
“To conduct inquiry and submit a report on the death of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, an inquiry commission headed by retired high court judge, Justice Arumugasamy, has been constituted,” the release said.
A Government Order had been issued for this purpose, it said.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, on August 17, announced that an inquiry commission, headed by a retired High Court judge, would be constituted to probe Jayalalithaa's death in December last.
Opposition parties, including DMK working president M.K. Stalin, have urged the Centre to order a CBI probe into her death. Mr. Stalin said a judicial probe would not unravel the mysteries behind her death.
The 68-year-old AIADMK supremo died on December 5 after being in hospital for 75 days.
A probe into her death was one of the demands made by then rebel leader and now Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam for the formal merger of his faction with that of Mr. Palaniswami.
The two factions had merged on August 21.
